1.1 SCHOOL PROFILE



CAVITE STATE UNIVERSITY SILANG CAMPUS, ( Silang Laboratory Science High School).

On April 21, 2006, Mayor Clarito A. Poblete representing the Local Government of Silang and Dr. Ruperto S. Sangalang, representing Cavite State University (CvSU) signed a Memorandum of Agreement establishing the CvSU – Silang Campus. Dr. Julio G. Alava was immediately designated as its Campus Dean. By June 2006, CvSU-Silang Campus started its operation on the second and third floors of the BDO Building at M. Belen St. with 105 students.


The campus offered five curricular programs focusing on the education and man power needs of the municipality holding fast to the theme “Focus to Build a Guaranteed Future. The Local Government of Silang provided the second floor of Silang Commercial Center Building on June 2007 for holding of extension classes to the growing number of CvSU-Silang community. On June 2008, the Local Government of Silang provided CvSU-Silang with a facility housed in the former Cavite Institute Building in Belen Street to serve as classroom and practice house for the Hotel and Restaurant Management students. By June 2009, the HRM students from the old CI Bldg. was transferred to a mansion in E. Gonzales St. which was rented by the local government for Silang Campus.


The ground breaking ceremony of the permanent site of CvSU-Silang Campus in Biga I, Silang, Cavite happened on August 2009. On March 3, 2010, the Deed of Donation was signed by the Local Government of Silang, in favor of Cavite State University for the use of the facilities established by the local government in Biga I, Silang, Cavite. By July 1, 2010, the CvSU Silang Campus was transferred to its permanent abode in Biga I, Silang, Cavite.

Another milestone took place on August 2010 which is the Ground Breaking ceremony of the CvSU Multi-Purpose Gymnasium. In addition, on September 2011, the construction of the second to fifth floor of CvSU Building 3 began and was completed by June 2012.

Since then, the CvSU-Silang campus provides its clientele excellent, equitable and relevant educational opportunities through quality instruction. CvSU-Silang actively responds on the calling of research and community service for the betterment of the society, now and in the future. It has been tagged as a fast rising campus in the CvSU System.


Currently, from 5 curricular programs CvSU-Silang is now offering 11 programs: 8 are degree courses and 3 non degree courses. The degree courses are:

(1) Bachelor of Science in Computer Science;

(2) Bachelor of Science in Information Technology;

(3) Bachelor of Science in Business Management Major in: Marketing, Finance, and Human Resource Development;

(4) Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management;

(5) Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management;

(6) Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education Major in: English, Mathematics, and Biological Sciences;

(7) Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education Major in: Early Childhood Education; and

(8) Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

Non degree courses are:

(1) Certificate in Computer Secretarial;

(2) Certificate in Computer Technician; and

(3) Diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management.

From 105 students, CvSU-Silang has now 3871 students, 929 are candidates for graduation. In line with the mission and vision of the university, CvSU-Silang continues to build a guaranteed future.



1.2 ACADEMIC SUPPORT SYSTEM


In Academic Support System, CvSU Silang Campus holds and accepts various scholarship grants to help aid students for their education. CvSU Silang Campus offers Academic Scholarship Grant where the grants are divided into 2

-- Full Academic Scholarship : it is when the student is able to achieved a General Point Average (GPA) of 1.45 to 1.00 and

-- Partial Academic Scholarship : it is when the student is able to achieved the GPA of 1.75 to 1.46 at the end of the semester. Included also to the academic scholarship is the entrance exam in which those High School students who graduated valedictorian are granted the privilege of scholarship upon entry to the campus and only given every 1st semester.


For Academic year 2015 - 2016, on the 1st Semester, there were 31 students who were into Full Academic Scholarship; 199 students were into Partial Academic Scholarship and 5 students were granted the entrance exam scholarship. Upon 2nd Semester; Full Academic Scholarship was granted to 34 students and 315 students availed the Partial Academic Scholarship. Next available scholarship is the


Financial Assistance : this scholarship grant is as follows:

1) RA 7160 -- 61 students availed this scholarship for the 1st semester and none on the 2nd semester;

2) PD 577 -- 1 student is a beneficiary of the grant and 2 students availed in the 2nd semester;

3) LGU-Silang -- 3 students were the beneficiaries for the 1st semester and none in the 2nd semester;

4) LGU - Dasmariñas -- 3 students availed the grant for the 1st semester and on the 2nd semester 10 students enjoyed the grant;

5) GSIS -- for 1st and 2nd semesters 2 students availed the scholarship;

6) ESGP -- 2 students availed the scholarship for the 1st semester and declined into 1 student on the 2nd semester. And lastly,

7) PVAO -- this scholarship grant is only enjoyed by 1 student for both 1st and 2nd semesters.


Another available scholarship grant came from the Provincial Scholarship where Hon.

-- HOR member Barzaga and Hon. HOR member Loyola took hold for the CHED Tulong Dunong -- the grant was given on the 2nd semester and both held 36 students grantees. Similarly, there is also the Service Scholarship -- this scholarship grant are as follows:

1) Chorale -- there were 13 students beneficiaries for this grant;

2) Varsity -- for the 1st semester there were 6 students who were granted and for the 2nd semester there were 7 students who availed the scholarship;

3) CSG -- 6 students enjoyed the grant sor the 1st semester and for 2nd semester 9 students enjoyed the grant.

4) ROTC -- for the 1st semester only 1 ROTC member was granted and on the 2nd semester 11 ROTC members became the beneficiaries; and

5) Student Assistant -- 3 students availed this scholarship for the 2nd semester.


--Lastly, Private Scholarship -- there are 4 existing sponsors for this type of scholarship namely:

1) Menzi Trust Fund Inc. -- for the 1st Semester there were 3 grantees and on the 2nd Semester there were 4 grantees;

2) SEEDS -- 17 students were beneficiaries of this grant for the 1st semester and on 2nd semester 9 student grantees enjoyed the scholarship.

3) Jacksonville -- both semesters hold only 1 student grantee;

4) Adam and Eve Edward Foundation -- both semesters also hold 1 student beneficiary for the grant.


1.3 TEACHING SYSTEM


In CvSU - Silang Laboratory Science High School, They used Students' Centre based Learning, it means not only the teacher that gave the information or knowledge to the students', yet students also become the main source of gaining knowledge. After that, teachers give additional information related to the subjects.


1.4 MATERIALS AND OTHER LEARNING SOURCES


In CvSU - Silang Laboratory Science High School. They have lots of materials and learning sources, for materials they used media such as book ,teaching aids that support learning also they used projector and television as learning sources.


1.5 MEASUREMENT AND EVALUATION SYSTEM


Measurement and Evaluation System in CvSU - Silang Laboratory High School through midterm examination and final examination. Also, they have a project, students should make project related to the topic and subjects to apply the lessons learned in coming up with a brainstorm product also the teachers can check if the students really learned something from the lesson and to add points to the grade of the students.


1.6 GENERAL CURRICULUM


CvSu - Silang Laboratory Science High School used K to 12 Curriculum since August 2018. K to 12 Curriculum applied students' centre based learning.
